How to connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to your website with MCP
· 4 min read
What if you could say "write a draft about our new feature, put it in the Guides category and schedule it for Monday" and have it done? With BlogSphere's MCP connection you can. You add one address to your AI assistant, sign in, and it works on your websites for you. It takes about a minute.
Key takeaways
MCP is a standard way for AI assistants to use tools. BlogSphere gives them one address for all your websites.
You choose which websites the assistant may use and how much it may do on each: read only, editor or full access.
The assistant never gets more than your own permissions, and you can disconnect it at any time.
What is MCP, in plain words?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use tools in other products. Without it, an assistant can only talk. With it, the assistant can open your content, change it and read your numbers, in the same way you would in the admin.
BlogSphere offers well over a hundred of these tools. The assistant can:
write, edit, schedule and publish posts
find, move and clean up files and folders in the media library
read your analytics: top posts, channels, searches and more
work with comments, subscribers and, if you run a store, products and orders
Before you start
What you need
A BlogSphere account with at least one website.
An AI assistant that supports MCP connectors: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Code.
Step 1: Copy your connection address
Open the admin and go to Developer → Connect an AI assistant. You will see one address. It is the same for all your websites, so you add it to your assistant only once. Press Copy.
Step 2: Add the address to your assistant
Each assistant has its own place for this. The admin page shows a tab for every one of them, with the exact steps. In short:
Claude: open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the address.
ChatGPT: turn on Developer mode under Settings, Connectors, Advanced. Then choose Create and paste the address as the server URL.
Gemini, Cursor and VS Code: add the address to the MCP config file of the tool. The admin page gives you the exact lines to copy.
Claude Code: run one command in your terminal. It is on the same page, ready to copy.
Step 3: Sign in and choose what it may do
After you save, the assistant opens the BlogSphere admin. Sign in as you always do, with your password and two-step verification if you use it.
Then you decide what the assistant gets:
Tick the websites it may use.
Choose an access level for each: Read only to look but not change, Editor to write and edit, or Full access.
Press Allow.
Start small
If you are trying this for the first time, give a website Read only or Editor access. You can raise it later in a few seconds.
Step 4: Try it
Ask your assistant something simple first, for example:
"List my latest posts on my blog."
"Which posts got the most visitors this week?"
"Write a draft about how to choose a good domain name and save it in Guides."
New posts are saved as drafts, so you can read them before anything goes live.
Good to know
An assistant connects to one workspace. To use another one, connect again and choose it.
To change websites or levels, or to disconnect an assistant, open Account → Connected apps. The change applies to the very next request.
Everything the assistant does is recorded in your activity log, so you can always see what changed.
Troubleshooting
Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
The assistant cannot reach the address | Check that you copied the whole address, including the part after the slash. |
It says it has no access to a website | Open Connected apps and make sure that website is ticked. |
It can read but not write | The website is on Read only. Raise it to Editor. |
FAQ
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You copy one address, paste it into your assistant and press Allow.
Can the assistant delete my content?
Only if you give the website Full access, and only what your own account is allowed to delete. Deleted media goes to the Trash first, where you can restore it.
Does it cost extra?
The connection is part of BlogSphere. Your AI assistant may have its own plan or limits.
Can I use it for more than one website?
Yes. One address works for all the websites in your workspace. You choose which ones each assistant may use.
